Can You Help

Isidro Martínez has just sent me a photograph of a pterosaur skull in the Museum Mensch und Natur in Münich, Germany.  It displays a very good crest and the teeth are preserved mainly in situ.
The fossil is new to me and I would like to know more about it.  The museum display has no label or information and I have been unable to contact the staff directly. Can any one help with information on the specimen?

  1. I don't have any info on the specimen, but the rostrum is very similar to Normannognathus...

    1. I agree. I have e-mailed the museum, but after the severe floods last week, responding to E-mails is probably a very low priority.

  2. There was a online German news report on the discovery of this specimen just a year or two ago, but I can't seem to relocate it. Anyway Its undoubtedly an adult specimen of Ardeadactylus longicollum. Or at least something very closely related, only a detailed analysis of the specimens morphology and exact stratigraphic position will say for sure.

  3. Update: Found that news article I spoke of. Picture2 shows the entire specimen, much more to it than just a beautiful skull.

    1. Thanks Christopher. It is probably too early for the specimen to have been published - such things often take 3-4 years these days. The lithology at Mühlheim bei Mörnsheim is very fine so I would expect from the photo that this pterosaur specimen will be very revealing.
